Program Officer
The Antara Foundation (TAF)
Location – One of our intervention districts in Madhya Pradesh (subjective to need)

Why should almost a million children under age-five die each year in India? Why should three mothers die every hour? The irony is that most of these deaths are preventable, through solutions that are well known. The great challenge lies in the delivery of these solutions at scale. That is the exact focus of our work.

TAF is a non-profit start-up which works to transform India’s public health system, currently focused on maternal and child health, including nutrition. We are a field-based implementing organization, working in some of its most far-flung villages and marginalized communities. TAF was founded by Ashok  Alexander, formerly Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company, and first India country director, Bill & Melinda  Gates Foundation. Ashok is one of India’s most respected public health experts, specialised in incorporating business thinking into public health delivery.

The essence of TAF’s work is integration, at scale, of innovations in supply and demand sides of health service delivery. In 2015, we started our first program in Rajasthan. This state of 80 million served as a  crucible for vibrant innovation, and the development of our core model for scaling up. Within three years, the Rajasthan government introduced our flagship innovation (AAA platform) across the state, spanning 46,000 villages, and a rural population of over 50 million. Currently, we have adapted our model to work in Madhya Pradesh (population: 87 million), a state with very different demographic and socio-cultural characteristics. We are present in six districts, with plans to reach 10-12 districts (a fifth of the state) by 2023.

We are now at the cusp of a new phase of massive geographic expansion, and fresh innovations. In this,  we are backed by some of the world’s best foundations and philanthropists including the Bill & Melinda  Gates Foundation, Mackenzie Scott, LGT VP, and Vijay and Marie Goradia Foundation. At this juncture,  we are increasing the staff count by more than 2x, to cater to the large-scale expansion of our work.

We are looking for Program officers who are passionate, bubbling over with ideas, strategic in approach,  hard-nosed with data and enthusiastic to learn. We seek someone with 2-4 years of work experience in other development organizations, corporate organizations, or management consulting. We take pride in our culture, which resonates with non-hierarchy, ownership, humility, high performance and having fun.
