Position Summary 

Vibha is looking for a Program Manager with excellent project management skills, a good understanding of school education system, and prior experience of working with the Govt. education sector for managing its project running in Andhra Pradesh. The individual would be based in Visakhapatnam and required to travel to State capital, to meet State officials, and Paderu Division, to monitor effective implementation of project working closely with the partner NGOs. The role requires developing rapport and strong relationships with State, District and Paderu Division Administration through regular engagement and updates on Project implementation. S/he will form part of the Vibha India Operations Team that is directly involved with the monitoring and evaluation of all the Vibha supported projects in India. This is a work from home position as all the full time staff of Vibha currently operates from home. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to 

  • Work as a link between the Vibha Projects Team (that handles all Projects) and the partner NGO(s) involved in implementing the Projects
  • Create internal alignment between different interventions and partners involved in the Project
  • Validation of reports, data and review of progress through regular field visits to all the mandals of Paderu Division
  • Monitor the project budgets, quarterly expenditure report and report on the variance in fund utilisation
  • Prepare and submit high quality monthly/quarterly progress reports and presentations to Vibha Management and the State/District Administration
  • Represent Vibha in review meetings at State and District level and trainings/workshops organized by Government and partner organizations for effective implementation of the Project
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders (NGOs, experts, other States) and facilitate conversations, setup and manage partnerships to leverage the best support for Vibha and the State government
  • Ensure high engagement of the Vibha volunteers by making available all the project related information and coordinating their visits to the field as and when needed

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant field of education such as sociology, social work, rural development, community development, Education etc. 
  • At least 5 years of working experience with minimum 2 years of experience in handling projects in education sector 
  • Outstanding skills in preparation of pitch decks 
  • Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills in English 
  • Fluency in Telugu language (both Spoken and Reading) 
  • Understanding of basic financial management and reporting 
  • Ability to set priorities, create workplans with timelines and monitor them on regular basis 
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, without or with little supervision 
  • Strong in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.) and Google Suite applications 
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience in building & managing relationships 
  • Prior work experience in the education/development/fellowships sector strongly preferred 

Desired Qualities 

  • Good understanding of NEP 2020 and State Government education programs 
  • Awareness of the state-level initiatives towards education transformation in different parts of India is preferable
  • Good understanding of State and District Education Department structure and functioning 
  • Openness to feedback for bringing in required course correction 
  • Operating style suited to working in a small-organization setting, where teamwork and resourcefulness are highly valued 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time 
  • Demonstrate a good level of emotional stability, intelligence and social and self-awareness. 


Remuneration will be competitive with Indian philanthropy pay scales and will depend upon the candidate’s qualifications and work experience.
