Job Description: 

Vipla Foundation is an independent NGO seeking a highly motivated and committed Project  Manager to lead and manage the school transformation Program.

The primary education vertical at Vipla Foundation consists of core and auxiliary education programmes impacting foundational literacy and numeracy for primary-grade children in Maharashtra. Our core primary education programme is known as School Transformation Program under which we work in three key domains: Education, Protection and Governance. 

We work in 63 schools of PCMC to build the capacities of the school teachers in an interactive classroom pedagogy. We also run support centres in the schools (for 7 to 12 years) to reduce the gap between their current level of learning and their grade-level learning expectations in  Language and Math. We do this by running remedial support centres in govt. schools and slum communities We also run community learning centres in the communities to provide access to help children in improving their foundational literacy and numeracy skills. We run SMAK (Science  Maths Application Knowledge) classes to inculcate the scientific temperament among the students. To ensure good governance, we build the capacities of the school SMCs ensure their active participation in the school affairs.  

As a Project Manager, this position requires you to ensure smooth implementation, monitoring and reporting of a portfolio of projects in primary education in Maharashtra.  

The candidate must possess a post-graduate degree in Education or allied fields and with minimum 4-5 years of work experience.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • To lead and oversee the Primary programs in Pune which is known as School Transformation  Program. 
  • To lead the school transformation project and work towards a strategic plan. 
  • To lead and oversee the creation of assessments for the primary grade students in Language,  Maths and SMAK programs 
  • To coordinate and manage a team of Academic facilitators, Sikhsan sahyogis and sikshan doots  for primary education project 
  • To build rapport with the PCMC officials to get permissions for the School Transformation  Program. 
  • To lead the training of teachers, school officials and community members with the content team.  
  • To manage the Sponsorship program and stick to its deliverables 
  • To plan, design and implement the SMC training and capacity-building program.  
  • To strategize the changemakers activity to build a child leadership activity 
  • To be responsible for timely project deliverables, internal and external reporting and communications. 
  • To be responsible for proposals and periodic report writing for the school transformation project. 
  • To be responsible for end-to-end donor management for related projects. 
  • To research and write quality project proposals to seek funding for new projects.  The Project Manager will report to the Education Director.  

Preferred Skills & Competencies 

  • Minimum 6-8 years of work experience preferably in managing primary education projects. 
  • In-depth knowledge of foundational Math and Language education in primary school.  
  • Prior experience in teacher training is desirable.  
  • Has a thorough understanding of elementary education in India.  
  • Demonstrated experience in process management and financial management.  
  • Good written and verbal communication in English. 
  • Proficiency in Marathi and/or Hindi. 

Educational Qualification 

A postgraduate degree in education, social sciences and/or related field.  

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
