Job Description:

Jan Swasthya Sahyog is a registered non profit organisation working towards creating a just, equitable, and rational system of healthcare which would be readily available to the poor. In the last 22 years of its operations, JSS has been able to cater to the health and allied needs of the people through a robust community outreach programme in 72 forest and forest fringe villages of Bilaspur and Mungeli districts of Chhattisgarh and a 100 bedded base hospital in Ganiyari village. Since 2018, JSS also expanded to 6 districts of Madhya Pradesh to strengthen the public health system which would bring quality healthcare closer to people of MP who often travel miles to seek care.

Health System Strengthening work involves:

  1. Implementation of quality assurance program in the selected facilities of the district.

  2. Nutrition Intervention: Working on undernutrition of children under the age of 3 years by opening rural crèches

  3. Strengthening community processes at village and sub health centres through training and mentoring ASHA, ANM and CHOs

  4. Increasing the effectiveness of the public health system for the management of sickle cell anemia disease by training health care providers (doctors, nurses, lab technicians, ASHAs, and ANMs), and by conducting door-to-door screening and diagnosis in all villages.

Work Location – Anuppur (Madhya Pradesh)

Mandatory  requirement:

M.P.H./M.A. (Development) + minimum 2 years of experience working in the field of public health.

Desirable Experience/Knowledge:

  • Understanding of public health system

  • Understanding of community health and nutrition

  • Experience in project and team management

  • Knowledge of research methodologies

 Overall Responsibility of the Project which includes the following :-

  1. Developing strategies for ensuring smooth running of the project and monitoring project activities.

  2. Developing and maintaining project reports (quarterly, half-yearly, annual), documenting activities.

  3. Planning, designing, implementing, and reviewing quality assurance of sickle (CHOs, Lab technicians and doctors training), community health (ASHA, ANM training and mentoring, CHO and AWW orientation) and phulwari work on a monthly basis with the project teams.

  4. Ensuring the proper training on the sickle cell disease of the lab technicians and doctors of the targeted government facilities.

  5. Developing, reviewing, and fine tuning data collection tools for DH, CHC, PHCs, and HWCs,

  6. Presenting progress report to the organization on quarterly basis.

  7. Presenting progress report of the project to CMHO, DPM, and Collector on a quarterly basis.

  8. Minimum one meeting with CMHO and collector every month for orally updating regarding project activities. This can happen via DHS or TL or separately as well. Present the progress report in the form of a presentation once in a quarter.

  9. Meeting Local Member of Parliament and Member of Legislative assembly once in 6 months. This can happen while inviting them for any activity on the field (meetings etc.) or separately.

  10. Sending small article regarding our work to all local news papers and reports at least once in a quarter

  11. Approvals for purchases happening in the project as per norms of the organization and budget allocations.

Financial and HR issues of the project will primarily be taken care of by the HR and finance manager. The Project Manager would need to oversee this process.

Minimum 8 to 12 days of field visit in a month to monitor and mentor project activities. This must include participation in one Phulwari workers’ meeting, one Phulwari supervisors’ meeting, one Parents’ meeting and one health team meeting.

Salary(CTC): 32000 – 44000 (Based on experience)

Job Duration: Minimum Contract period of 1 year. Contract renewal on the basis of performance appraisal.
