About the organisation  

Navjyoti India Foundation is a not-for-profit society, registered in 1988 by then 16 serving police officers of Delhi Police and conceived by Dr. Kiran Bedi, first Indian woman IPS, and her team of North district police, with the main objective of crime prevention through welfare policing, education of street children, vocational skills for women drug peddlers and de-addiction programs were its initiating projects. 

Over the last 34 years, we have been working relentlessly to bring about qualitative behavioural change and impact lives of the under-served in need in the urban slums of northwest Delhi and rural villages and peri-urban spaces of District Gurugram, Haryana. Our bottom-up approach of inclusive development and self-motivation has touched millions of lives and has moved us on to the path of sustainable development through our programs in Child Education, Women Empowerment, Skill Up-gradation for Youth, Community Development, and Environment. 

About the project: Sustainable development of a country requires the full participation of all its citizens. Greater gender equality can enhance productivity and therefore empower both women and men as economic, political and social actors in the society and can bring 

about a revolutionary change in the community. Working on a larger mission of crime prevention, the project addresses the issue of providing platform to communities to enhance their capacities to learn entrepreneurial skills and income generation activities by setting up incubation centre for the marginalised. 

The project seeks to enhance the personnel development and entrepreneurial skills of 

families including adolescent girls, boys, both women and men that can contribute to the pool of human resource and become productive members of the society. It identifies deficit in their current skills, maps their persona and provides host of opportunities and 

handholding support based on their needs. It also leverages the digital space and financial inclusion which can provide a competitive advantage for wider outreach. The project does not entail only starting a business but being innovative, creative, resourceful, adaptable and visualize a progressive pathway whether working for self or others. The focus will be on need-based entrepreneurship development at individual level, family enterprise as well as group enterprise. 

This will be achieved through knowledge dissemination amongst the communities and

helping them with the desired skill-upgradation in the competitive age of digitalization in a collaborative and inclusive manner. The participants will benefit from the need-based training program in equipping themselves, with the knowledge of the subject matter, enhancing their technical skill-sets and contributing towards social empowerment and economic development. 

Job Description: Community Mobilizer, Enterprise development  

Position: Full Time (Contractual)  

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors in Social Work/Masters in Social Work Experience– 0 to 1 years 

Location– Nayagaon, Sohna Block, Gurugram, Haryana 

Date of Joining– Immediate 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Ensure all strategies, targets and plans as set-in the project is met including the  requirements of funding agencies. 
  • Conduct meetings with key persons, Panchayat and other local stakeholders  
  • Awareness and orientation with the communities on the program through different  IEC tools  
  • Coordinate with local government agencies like District Legal Services Authority for  planning and organizing campaigns on legal, social and welfare schemes of the  government  
  • Mobilize and identify potential trainees for enrolment in incubation center  
  • Counseling of the families of the potential trainees  
  • Ensure the presence of trainees during training programs 
  • Follow up of the trainings and linkages to ensure smooth operations of the trainings  conducted  
  • Quality check of the enterprises as per the checklist  
  • Engage trainees in social, environmental and developmental activities and initiatives  

Skills required:  

  • Knowledge of PRA tools and techniques and systemic approach  
  • Ability to network, build rapport and establish linkages with community  
  • Organizing skills to execute awareness campaigns and programs  
  • Result-oriented to meet the targets 
  • Problem resolution skills to navigate challenges in the community 
  • Efficient communication skills, verbal and writing  
  • Effective data management, analysis and interpretation skills to inform senior  management decisions  
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software like MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint 
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-moving environment as well as rural  areas
